At Hawghunter Charters we “follow the fish” means we travel to wherever the fish are biting. Charter boat captains know that certain months of the season are more productive for catching a particular species of fish. However, when fishing is off in one location they are usually actively feeding in another that is perhaps 30 to 60 miles away. For example, if the catch rate near Duluth/Superior slows down, the Lake Superior North Shore or Apostle Islands near Bayfield can have an “active bite.” Our 23’ Formula Thunderbird charter boat, unlike larger charter boats that must remain close to their home port, is trailerable to areas where the species of fish you prefer are active.
Our charters begin in late May and usually run thorough the third week in October when we are catching coho salmon in the Bayfield, WI area.
